This exploration of truth lends to a larger examination of humanity and morality, and considers a world in which people are so selfish and dishonest that it becomes impossible to trust another person.

This examination culminates upon the discovery of the abandoned baby, where the three men going over the story of the murder are left to look beyond the situation as it appears to their limited perspective, determine the motive of the abandoned baby's parents, and learn to navigate a world of constant conflicts between good and malicious actions and intents.

The characters themselves are what give complexity and depth the the film's story and themes, and they are compelling in their vastly different natures. There is the bandit, who acts under impulse and instinct, almost as an animal, making him difficult to empathize with; there is the husband, who, even in his own defeat, villainizes his own wife for being a victim of rape; and there is the wife herself, who employs the very ideas of honor that were used to condemn her in order to resist and oppose her antagonizers.

The wife herself is the most complex character, as the audience can clearly see her emotional turmoil and inner conflict arising from a traumatic rape and her subsequent, immediate rejection by the husband who failed to protect her.

The film really took a interesting look at both human decency and the manipulation of story wether truthful or not. I see why this is such a highly acclaimed film. It had great technique the change in score, lighting for different storiespremise subjectivty, honesty and justice and finally story telling loved the scene with the medium freaking out.

I really liked the use of several perspectives sharing the same story, it really adds to theme of man being selfish and only acting in their own best interest and telling a story that makes them sound better rather than the truth.

The rain in the present scene was a nice way of adding to the dread of the wood cutter and moink while telling the story.

The ending was a nice touch that made it feel like all the suffering was not for nothing, ust as the monk's faith was restored in humanity, miine was as well. I thought it was cool how the movie was told from many perspectives. I really enjoyed the music and the rain.

The rain really added to the effect of the suffering and the humanity, or lack thereof. Really interesting camera angles. The heavy use of rain in the present scenes add a interesting and real effect to the scene. Just as good as Seven Samurai. Jin the original sin.
